RSS is most commonly believed to represent Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication. RSS formats are specified using a language called XML, a generic specification for the creation of data formats. This standardized XML format allows the content published or an RSS feed, to be seen by several different programs. These programs are known as RSS readers, feed readers or aggregators. By introducing a feed URI or URL in a reader or by clicking the RSS icon, the user subscribes to a feed, and may receive updates to the reader.

The objective of all RSS modules is to extend the XML schemas to enable a more robust content syndication, enabling transactions more standardized but different, without changing the specifications of RSS. This is done through force controlled vocabulary, giving names to concepts and the creation relationships between each of these concepts.
